Henry Kendall Cottage and Museum
Visit Henry Kendall Cottage, a large historical museum in West Gosford displaying a variety of items from our past. Maintained by the Brisbane Water Historical Society.
Henry Kendall Cottage was built by Peter Fagan with convict labour. It was built from various shapes and sizes of sandstone gathered from around the property. Some still have oyster shells embedded. A slab wash-house and two seater pit 'dunny' complete the cottage setting.
Other buildings include a slab shed re-erected by Gosford Rotary Club. In this shed are three exhibitions of our early industries. There is a farm machinery shed, which houses a concrete mixer used to build part of the concrete highway between Hornsby and the Hawkesbury River. There are also other outdoor exhibits.
The Cottage has had only three owners: the Fagan family (1836), the Adcock family (1921), and Brisbane Water Historical Society (1959).
